Who we are
Be Birmingham is the local strategic partnership that brings together partners from the business, community, voluntary, faith and public sectors to deliver a better quality of life in Birmingham.
Be Birmingham, was established in 2001. It was first known as the City Strategic Partnership until it became the Birmingham Strategic Partnership (BSP) in October 2004. The BSP finally evolved into Be Birmingham in November 2007. The new-look LSP reflected a new era at the partnership which saw it stronger, united and more determined than ever before to put the city at the heart of all it did.
Be Birmingham is committed to:
- Uniting Birmingham's family of partnerships to provide a collective response to improving the social, economic and wellbeing of the city
- Engaging Birmingham citizens to inform the Birmingham 2026: Our vision for the future, the city's sustainable community strategy
- Delivering Birmingham 2026
- Developing and implementing the vision's delivery mechanism, the Local Area Agreement (LAA)
Be Birmingham consists of:
- The Be Birmingham summit brings together senior representatives from key public sector agencies, business, community and voluntary sectors. The summit is held three times a year to provide a platform for discussion, and help facilitate the delivery actions from various partners
- The Executive Board oversees and coordinates the delivery of the Birmingham 2026 (the sustainable community strategy), and the Local Area Agreement (LAA). The Executive Board meets every six weeks and is made up of key representatives from the family of Partnerships, as well as other key public, private and community/ voluntary sector representatives
- A family of partnerships has been developed to cover seven strategic themes as well as a Neighbourhoods Board. The seven partnerships are: Economic Development, Safer, Children and Young People, Health and Wellbeing, City Housing, Environmental and Cultural.
- Multi-agency collaborations, which act as support to the BB board and the programme board
- A network of Constituency Strategic Partnerships that deliver the overall strategy for the city, as well as promoting shared vision and collaboration at the district and ward level
