BVSC to host Birmingham's Local Involvement Network

It has been announced that BVSC has been successful in tendering to become the host for the city’s Local Involvement Network (LINk).

Local Involvement Networks (LINks) are local community-based networks of individuals and organisations committed to strengthening and widening the influence of patients, service users and the public in the process of planning and improving health and social care services.
BVSC will take on responsibility for Birmingham’s LINk from October 1st of this year.
BVSC’s Chief Executive, Brian Carr said “LINks are a vital part of a strong civil society, and we’re privileged to have the opportunity of working with the LINk in Birmingham to ensure that local users of health and social care services have a powerful and influential voice in the city.
Birmingham’s LINk is already composed of a strong mix of committed individuals and groups and it will be our job to support them in strengthening their position so that everyone can benefit from high quality services. This is an especially vital initiative at a time when major changes in social care services, the NHS, and public health systems are underway or looming, and we look forward to assisting the LINk in working with healthcare commissioners and providers to achieve positive outcomes for Birmingham's residents.
My staff and I will be meeting with LINk members soon to discuss priorities.”
During the term of this contract, BVSC will also work closely with LINk members and Birmingham City Council to make arrangements for the establishment of a local HealthWatch. HealthWatch will be the independent consumer champion for the public and will work to to promote better outcomes in health and social care.
